Dr. Altaf Engineer – Advisory Board

Phoenix, USA

Altaf has a PhD in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on environmental behavior—how space influences the perceptions and experiences of its occupants—and how this information can be used to improve its design. Altaf also studies how daylight has been used as a theme in architecture; he has already published some of his research on daylighting in journals and conference proceedings.

Prior to entering academia, Altaf worked in the architecture industry for eight years: two years in Mumbai, India, and six in Washington DC, USA. His professional credentials include being a LEED accredited professional in the United States (LEED AP, BD+C) and a registered architect in India, in the Council of Architecture (CoA). Altaf’s professional background, education, and research credentials have helped him gain valuable insight on the intersection of technology and behavioral issues in built environments. Altaf will join the faculty of the School of Architecture, University of Arizona as an Assistant Professor, beginning August 2017.
